Hi everyone, spring is almost here, which in Ireland means the rain
shifts to a slightly warmer version of rain than the rain we get during the
winter. It's not nearly as warm as summer rain (we can only dream for now!),
but it's a start. As many of you know we recently had riots
in Dublin. Some thought the riots were started by sectarian thugs with a
political agenda, others thought the culprits were Dublin hooligans
looking for free track suits and Cider. Whatever the case, there was
great shopping to be had on O'Connell Street! They were basically giving
the stuff away. Best of all you didn't need any annoying coupons or
vouchers to get a good deal - a couple bricks and some lighter fluid,
and you were on your way to Bargaintown.
The Thursday night show at the Westmoreland is going great, each week we
feature the finest newcomers to the Irish comedy scene as well as some
of the best veterans on the circuit. In the past couple weeks alone,
some of my favourite acts in Ireland have dropped by to do a set,
including John Colleary, Matt Saddlier and Jarleth Regan. If you want to
be kept up to date with listings, drop me an email and I'll put on the
weekly email list.
The months ahead are an exciting time for live comedy, I'll be performing at a bunch of venues over March and April so be sure to come out and catch a performance. I guarantee you won't leave disappointed, simply because even if you don't like me, you'll probably get drunk anyway, and that's never a disappointment.
April will also see the launch of the first ever Galway Comedy Festival. Gerry Mallon and Tommy Tiernan have teamed up to create this event, which I think will be a great addition to the Irish arts scene. Galway is the perfect city for such an event, and Gerry is genuinely one of the nicest guys I've met in the comedy scene over here, so be sure to come out and support the shows. I'll be performing in Cuba on Saturday, April 15th with U.K. comedian Dave Johns. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, just visit www.ticketmaster.ie
That's all for now, hopefully I'll see you at a gig soon!
